Geyserville solar & battery FAQ
Do you install commercial solar for Alexander Valley wineries?
Yes, it's much of what we do here. We've built systems for Robert Young, Skipstone, and Trione, sized to each winery's load and built to work around harvest. We handle design, permitting, and PG&E interconnection.
Can you design a ground-mounted system that covers an entire estate?
Yes. On larger estates, a ground-mounted array can be placed where the land receives the best sun, and virtual net metering can offset usage across multiple parcels, including the winery, vineyards, residences, and outbuildings, as we did at Robert Young.
Do you do rural home solar in Geyserville, not just wineries?
Absolutely. We install residential solar and battery on homes and rural parcels throughout the Geyserville area, designed to each roof or site and how the property uses power.
Do I need a battery with my solar?
For most new systems, yes. Under NEM 3.0, exported daytime solar earns far less than grid power at night, so a battery (/battery-storage-residential) lets you store your own energy for the evening, and it's designed to keep essential circuits running during an outage.
Will a battery keep my home powered in an outage?
A home battery is designed to keep your essential circuits (or even the rest of the home) running during a power outage. Runtime depends on your battery size and which circuits you back up, both of which we size with you.
How does the Prepaid PPA work, and is there local financing?
With the Prepaid PPA you pay one discounted upfront price, with no monthly solar payments, no escalators, and no buyout, and you own the system after six years, 20-30% less. Sonoma County also offers SCEIP financing for renewable improvements, which Skipstone used here; we can walk you through it.
